About Us

Nyikwa Ndonga Welfare Association is a community-based organization founded on the principles of unity, mutual support, and socio-economic empowerment. Rooted in Kodera Location, Homabay County, Kenya, the Association brings together descendants of the late Mzee Zakayo Ndonga and their families with a shared commitment to improving livelihoods and strengthening community bonds.

We exist to uplift our members socially and economically while preserving our heritage and building a sustainable future for generations to come.

Mission

To promote unity, support members in times of need, and drive sustainable socio-economic development through collective action, financial empowerment, and community initiatives.

Vision

To be a united, empowered, and self-reliant community that thrives through shared values, education, and economic opportunity.

Strategic focus

Our Core Objectives

Eight commitments that guide how we serve members, honour our heritage, and strengthen the wider community.

  • Promote unity and cooperation among members

  • Preserve and celebrate the heritage of Nyikwa Ndonga

  • Support members during bereavement, illness, and hardship

  • Enhance access to education through bursaries and scholarships

  • Promote savings, investment, and financial literacy

  • Encourage entrepreneurship and income-generating activities

  • Strengthen community ties through cultural and social initiatives

  • Advocate for solutions to community challenges such as poverty and inequality

Core values

These principles inform how we design programmes, treat people, and answer to donors and the public.

  • Integrity

We act honestly in fundraising, selection, and reporting—so stakeholders can rely on our word and our numbers.

  • Equity

Criteria and processes are applied consistently. We design programmes to reach those who face the steepest barriers.

  • Dignity

Applicants and beneficiaries are treated with respect. Support is framed as partnership, not charity that diminishes.

  • Accountability

Clear governance, documented decisions, and willingness to explain outcomes—good and difficult—to those we serve.

  • Community

We listen to local priorities, work with schools and institutions where relevant, and measure success in lives changed.
